CEO Lisa Liang

For Lisa Liang, the founder of Karam, the concept of "hospitality" is not a business term she learned—it is a feeling she has known her entire life. Growing up in a village in southern China with two siblings, her most cherished memories are not of lavish meals, but of the warmth shared around a small, worn-out table. That table, passed down from her grandfather, was where family bonds were strengthened. It was there she understood that the most beautiful moments in life happen when people gather. That simple, powerful idea became the seed of her life's mission. After graduating from university, Lisa was drawn not just to furniture, but to the emotions it could hold. She entered the restaurant and hospitality furniture industry with a clear, heartfelt vision: to create the settings where beautiful moments can unfold. She dreamed of providing stages for reunions—for loved ones, friends, and partners to connect, celebrate, and make memories, whether in a bustling restaurant or a serene luxury hotel.

Great Hospitality Is About Making People Feel Welcome

Karam Spaces Brand Story

To bring the generous, open-hearted hospitality of Lisa's childhood to hotels around the world, creating spaces where guests don't just stay—they belong.

People often ask me, 'Lisa, why do you value customers' feelings so much?'? ”I am a Hakka person, and our Hakka people have a very special building called a walled house. The wooden doors of Hakka houses are never locked. When I was a child, I always asked my grandmother, 'Aren't you afraid of strangers coming in?'? She smiled and said, 'Maybe someone on the road is tired and can come in for a cup of hot tea.' Now that I think about it, the feeling of 'always being open to others' has long been engraved in my bones.

Talking of my grandmother, her tea table is particularly interesting. No matter how many people come, even if it's just one guest, she has to pour three cups of tea. At that time, I always chased after her and asked why it had to be three cups She touched my head and said, 'Three' means completeness. We should be generous to others and keep this completeness in our hearts, so that guests can feel at ease. Later on, I learned that true hospitality is never about complicated rules, it's all about the little details hidden in the details.

Every time there are guests at a family banquet, my dad always cleans the seat facing the door clean. I didn't understand it when I was a child, but now I know that it's the main seat, specially reserved for the guests. The guest came from afar, and we reserved the best position for him, allowing him to feel respected and at home as soon as he entered. The generous hospitality of Hakka people has been imprinted in my heart since childhood.

With the generous hospitality genes of Hakka people, I founded the CDG brand over 20 years ago and have been dedicated to creating dining spaces that are warm and artistic. Over the years, I have flown to various parts of the world, visited many countries, and stayed in hotels of different styles. The design styles of these hotels range from simple to luxurious, with a variety of options. To be honest, the space is truly stunning, and the furniture is exquisitely crafted without any flaws, but I always feel like something is missing and empty in my heart.

Have you ever felt that way? When you sit on a particularly expensive sofa, but always feel uncomfortable all over, don't know where to put your hands, and don't relax at all. I thought at that time, why can't beautiful and durable furniture make people sit comfortably? I think a good piece of furniture should not just be a cold form, but also a carrier of emotional connection. With this profound experience and feeling, I have decided to design hotel furniture with warmth, so that guests can feel comfortable, relaxed, and at ease here, as if they have been waiting for them for a long time.

Karam Spaces Brand Story

Karam Spaces Is A Continuation And Sublimation Of CDG Furniture

For Karam, it means that no matter which country you come from, no matter how long you stay, the moment you sit down, you can feel welcomed, respected, and loved. Guests come from all over the world, and on their weary journey, when they step into the hotel, they not only need "flawless furniture", but also a sense of belonging when they return home, to release stress and feel relaxed and at ease. Just like the tea tables and banquet seats at my home when I was a child, even without luxurious decorations, they can help people relax. Many hotel partners from different countries often share videos with us. Every time I see guests sitting in our seats chatting and gathering with friends, I feel a sense of accomplishment. In fact, the generous hospitality is like three cups of tea from my grandmother when I was a child, my father's chair, and CDG's commitment to craftsmanship and quality over the years, which has created today's Karam brand.About Karam
